- Welcome to Second Grade! This is my seventh year teaching second grade. I taught third grade for 10 years. I am pleased and thrilled to be your child's teacher this year! We will have fun while learning at the same time. I need you to be a key factor in your child's education. I need communication to be strong between us and I also need you working with your child at home. Together we can have a successful year. I am looking forward to a GREAT year!
Mrs. Amy Garmane
Let me tell you a little about myself. I started my elementary years at Sesser-Valier CUSD #196. I attended school there until I was in third grade. Because of my father's job, I moved in the middle of my third grade year. I then started school at Vienna Grade School District #55. I enjoyed the remainder of my elementary years as a Vienna Ram. I am a very avid sports person. I participated in softball, basketball, and track. I graduated grade school in 1995. I started high school at Vienna High School District 13-3. I attended there until the remainder of my junior year. While at Vienna High School I was very active in softball and basketball and various clubs. For my Senior year, I returned to Sesser-Valier CUSD #196. Here I was also active in various activities, but softball and basketball were still my favorite. I played for the softball co-op with Waltonville High School. I graduated high school in 1999 as the Class Salutatorian and obtained a full-ride softball scholarship to Rend Lake College. I graduated Rend Lake College in 2001 with my Associate in Arts. I then transferred to SIU-Carbondale. I started the teacher education program. I was able to work in some really great classrooms. I did my student teaching with Mrs. Leigh Bailey here at ZR in the third grade! I graduated from SIU-C with my Bachelor's Degree in 2003. I immediately started substituting and ZR started to feel like home. During the 2006-2007 school year I was hired as the Parent Coordinator. The following year I was hired as a third grade teacher, and did so for ten years. This year is my sixth year as a second grade teacher and I am beyond ecstatic.
Here are some pictures of my sweet little family. I met my husband, Clinton "Cory" Garmane in April 2003. We got engaged in December 2003. We were married on July 16, 2005. We spent the next 5 years "honey-mooning." We enjoyed each other's company and just did whatever we wanted to do. We love just going for rides out in the country and spending time outdoors. Our son, Elijah, was born December 11, 2010. Everyone had given up that we would ever have kids....ha ha. Anyway the last few years have been fun. My husband is a graduate of RLC and SIU-C as well. He has 2 associate's degrees and he has his Bachelor's in Arts with a focus in music and voice. He has a Minor in Finance. He also has his Master's in Music and as of last year a Master's in Business Administration. He is currently the Music Professor at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg. Our son, Elijah, is 11 years old and is attending sixth grade this year at Z-R. Our baby girl, Emilia Piper, was born on January 16, 2018 and she will soon be 6 years old! She is going to be a kindergartner here at Z-R this year! God has truly blessed us!
Let's have a great year together!!! Communication and team-work are key!!!!
